Who we are

Manabu Neko ("ManabuNeko", "we", "us") operates the website at https://manabuneko.com and the Manabu Neko Chrome extension. For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact support@manabuneko.com.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the service:

  • Account information (such as email address) when you sign in with Google or email.
  • Learning data you create or sync (vocabulary lists, definitions, readings, practice progress).
  • Settings and preferences (languages, quiz frequency, custom learning URLs).
  • Usage and technical data needed to operate, secure, and improve the product.
  • Billing-related information processed by Stripe when you subscribe to a paid plan.

How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain vocabulary practice, quizzes, and sync across devices.
  • Process subscriptions and support billing inquiries.
  • Respond to support requests and protect against abuse or fraud.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers, including:

  • Google Firebase — authentication and cloud storage for account-linked data.
  • Stripe — payment processing for premium subscriptions.
  • Google AdSense — advertising on the free-tier practice experience. Google may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads.

Each provider processes data under its own terms and privacy policies.

Cookies and local storage

We and our partners use browser storage to operate the service, for example:

  • Sign-in session and authentication state.
  • Locally stored vocabulary and settings.
  • Advertising cookies when Google AdSense serves ads on eligible practice pages.

You can limit cookies in your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies may affect sign-in, sync, or advertising behavior.

Advertising

Free-plan users may see Google AdSense advertisements on the hosted practice page when reviewing a vocabulary word. Premium subscribers do not see these ads on practice.

Data retention and deletion

We retain account and learning data while your account is active. You may delete your account from Dashboard → Profile or request deletion by emailing support@manabuneko.com. Some information may be kept where required for legal, billing, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Account deletion

When you delete your account from Dashboard → Profile:

  • We remove your sign-in account and cloud-synced learning data (vocabulary and settings on our servers). An active Premium subscription is canceled in Stripe.
  • Words stored only in the Manabu Neko Chrome extension on your device are not deleted automatically. After deletion, open the extension to import, discard, or export vocabulary on that device.
  • We send a confirmation email to your account email address when deletion completes.

Before deletion, we ask why you are leaving (checkbox reasons and optional comments). We retain that exit feedback, including your email address for support context, for up to 90 days to improve the product. Access is limited to our administrators.

Children

Manabu Neko is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International users

Your information may be processed in countries where we or our service providers operate. By using the service, you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in those locations, subject to applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
